About JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC

Juvederm XC logoThe JUVÉDERM® family of products is the market leader in injectable dermal fillers. JUVÉDERM® is a hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal filler. HA is a natural and most abundant sugar found in the human body. JUVÉDERM® is a clear homogenous gel that, when injected, can fill wrinkles or add volume to deep depressions of the face. In addition, HA absorbs water, which helps plump out wrinkles and add fullness. JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC is often used to treat nasolabial folds (smile lines), marionette lines, fill out the cheeks, plump up the lips, or treat the fine lines around the lips.

About JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus

JUVÉDERM Ultra Plus logoJUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus is similar to JUVÉDERM® Ultra, but it has a more robust cross-linking for a greater degree of volume to a treated area. This product is injected deeper than its sister product above. You may find it interesting that our practice was one of the 10 medical practices in the country selected for the FDA trials paving the way for market approval in the United States. Benefits from this product may last longer than one year.

How Does It Work?

We use a very fine needle to reduce injection discomfort and offer a topical numbing gel to further minimize discomfort. We also recommend ice packs to reduce swelling and discomfort. JUVÉDERM® tends to bond with the water naturally found in your skin, working to add volume and smooth out wrinkles and fine lines. *You can usually see the results within 30 minutes or less.

What About After My Injection?

For the first 24 hours, you should avoid makeup, strenuous exercise, extensive sun or heat exposure, and alcoholic beverages. Exposure to any of these may cause temporary redness, swelling, and/or itching at the injection sites. If you have swelling, an ice pack over the swollen area should help.
